University Leadership

The University of Miami continues to soar ever higher on the list of top-tier institutions that make a major impact on the world.

In April 2015 Dr. Julio Frenk, dean at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Mexico’s former minister of health, was named the University’s next president. Dr. Frenk will assume the presidency on August 16, and executive vice president and provost Thomas J. LeBlanc is serving as interim president until then.

From 2001 to 2015 the University of Miami was led by President Donna E. Shalala, who spearheaded extraordinary progress in all areas.
